brief history: Mia grew up an only child in a wealthy household back in South Carolina. Her mom, an avid socialite and housewife, baked pies and hosted parties while her dad, a conniving businessman, worked a billion hours a week. On the weekends, her mother would practically drown herself in tequila while her father played golf at the country club. That left Mia by herself, usually bored. Since she was homeschooled, her only friends were the neighbors, Mrs. And Mr. Grendwold, and the elderly couple only babysat Mia on Friday Nights, occasionally inviting her over for cookies or a game of chess during the week. The main reason Mia loved spending time with Grendwolds was because they had horses. Though Mia wasn't allowed to ride them, she enjoyed grooming them with Mrs. Grendwold and feeding them sugar cubes. When she wasn't with the neighbors, Mia would run in circles in her huge yard or tie ropes around her doll's neck and make them 'bungee jump' out the window. She did weird little things like this to keep herself occupied until her mother stepped in and insisted she begin to act like a lady.
Mrs. Beaumark put Mia through etiquette classes and taught her how to be a proper young woman. It was very much anti-feminist. Eventually, Mia turned into a conservative and insecure young girl. Her mother had taken away her carefree and daring attitude, deeming it unnecessary. Meanwhile, when Mia was about eight years old, her father bought her a horse of her own, although her mother told her that she wasn't allowed to ride it. Mrs. Beaumark considered it 'decoration' and warned Mia that she shouldn't be playing with animals as big and unruly as horses. Of course Mia paid her no mind, she named her new pet Royal. Soon enough, Mia decided that there was no use in owning a horse if she couldn't ride it. She began to spend almost all of her free time with Royal, grooming her and riding her, until once again her mother stepped in. This time, she scolded Mia, claiming that horse riding was just too dangerous. Her father however, disagreed. He thought it would be a wonderful opportunity. He put Mia through riding lessons and prompted her to become a competitive rider.
Soon enough Mia was competing against other local riders and Mr. Beaumark began to brag about his talented little daughter to his colleagues, the golf caddies at the country club, anyone who would listen really. When Mia turned twelve, The Grendwolds gave Mia one of their horses since they were getting to old to take care of them, this horse's name was Babette. A few years later, Mia learned about North Creek Riding Academy and she begged her parents to send her there. It took Mia a year to talk them into it, they insisted that she try public school first to ease her transition from homeschooling to boarding school. After Mia's freshman year in highschool, she was finally allowed to attend North Creek. Her parents had mixed feelings about it, her mother was against anything to do with her little Mia riding horses but as evil as it may sound, she was happy that Mia would be away for a while. Her father was all for her wanting to continue in her competitive horseback riding career, but he was a bit nervous at the mention of boarding school. Before Mia left, her father bought her yet another horse. She named this one Dream Catcher.

AIRBORNE ROYALTY
registered/show name: Airborne Royalty
barn name: Royal
age: 9, 3.15
gender: Mare
colour: Chestnut
markings: Stripe on face, White socks on her hind legs
height: 15. 3 hh
breed: Quarter Horse
sire: unknown
dam: unknown
discipline(s):Hunter, sometimes Jumps too
owned by: Mia Beaumark for about seven years.
brief history and personality: Royal was Mia's first horse and she means a whole lot to her, she was the horse Mia learned to ride on. Mia doesn't really know much about Royal¡¦s original owner. Her father bought her from a breeder while she was still young. Royal is a tame but stubborn horse. She's a bit of a snob and she can be rather picky but she isn't wild. She'll refuse to do certain things but instead of bucking and kicking, she'll just stand still, flat out refusing to move. It takes some time for Royal to get used to people but she is a loyal horse. She doesn't get along well with other horses and she usually prefers to be off by herself. She acts very much like a princess and she is definitely the most prim and aloof horse that Mia owns.
dislikes: Puddles, Snow, Other Horses, Being Spoken To in A Harsh tone
fears: Thunder or Lightning, Rain
habits: Sometimes Royal shifts her wait from side to side, it kind of looks like she's dancing.
MY BABY BLUE GIRL
registered/show name: My Baby Blue Girl
barn name: Babette
age: 8, 8.6
gender: Mare
colour: Bay
markings: none
height: 17.2 hh
breed: Thoroughbred
sire: Riot
dam: Sunday Morning Sky
discipline(s): Hunter
owned by: Mia Beamark for about three years now.
brief history and personality: Babette is a happy go lucky horse and she always lifts Mia's mood. Babette was raised by the Mia's neighbors, she wasn't exactly trained to be a competitive horse and it shows sometimes. Babette is very free-spirited and she doesn't take instruction well. She isn't wild necessarily unless she is spooked, but she is very energetic and social. Mia thinks she's a great listener as well, she's the only one that has ever heard one of Mia's poems. Mia is still in the process of trying to teach Mia new commands and turn her into a better Jumper. Babette's a good leaner though and so far she's done well in the few competitions Mia has taken her to. Babette is a sweet horse that often makes Mia smile. The reason behind her show name? The neighbors used to call Mia baby blue because of her eyes.
dislikes: Twigs and Branches, Forrest Trails, Night Rides
fears: The Dark, Snakes of course, Twigs that look like snakes
habits: Babette is such a loud horse, she neighs and whinnies often and Mia swears that she makes a noise that sounds like a giggle. Babette is hardly ever still and she likes to prance in circles.
DREAM CATCHER
registered/show name: Dream Catcher
barn name: Santha
age: 7, 1.24
gender:Mare
colour: Black
markings: Star
height: 16.2hh
breed: Thoroughbred
sire: Bamboo
dam: Siren's Song
discipline(s): Jumper, Hunter, Eq, she does fairly well in all disciplines.
owned by: Mia for a little over a year now.
brief history and personality: Santha is Mia's newest horse and she is the most cooperative. She was trained by a professional before Mia's father bought her and she very rarely throws a fit or rebels. Mr. Beaumark's intention when buying Dream Catcher was for her to become Mia's prize winning horse. Santha's very serious and Mia can tell that she's very competitive. Santha excels at jumping and she usually places pretty high in competitions. Mia isn't sure how her original owner managed to train her though, since she doesn't respond to sugar cubes. What Mia loves most about Santha is her speed. She loves to run and she's one of the fastest horses Mia's ever seen.
dislikes: Dogs, Birds, Sugar cubes, Sudden Noise
fears: Wolves, Rustling Bushes
habits: Santha often sniffs the air, which is fun to watch. She will sometimes shake her head like she's saying no too.
Naturally, the dance studio was where Lena found herself most of the time. She believed that subconsciously she just gravitated toward the place; something in the back of her mind told her she belonged here. Lena didn’t mind spending her free time in the dance studio most days. It seemed like none of the other students really came around here after their classes, and honestly, Lena preferred it that way. It made the studio even more special to her.
As usual, Lena swung by during dinner; she knew that everybody else would be in the cafeteria and that she would have the place to herself. As she approached the studio she heard music, someone must have left the stereo on. Instantly she recognized the tune, the familiarity of the trumpet melody hit her, it was one of her favorites. The comforting melody lured her in and the music took hold of her body. For the first time all day Lena’s mind was quiet. She wasn’t worrying about whether her hair looked alright or if she should eat a salad or spaghetti for lunch, it was just Lena and the music. Or so she thought…
She leaped and lunged across the room spinning and jumping and contorting her body in time with the music. She felt free and she was happy, it didn’t matter if her arabesque wasn’t perfect, she was having fun and she was in her own little world. When the music ended, she noticed someone watching her in the mirror. Abruptly her pale face flushed and she began fixing her hair and straightening her clothes. She silently confounded herself for not noticing the person sooner as she turned to face the door. She figured she should probably greet this person or acknowledge them in some way.
"Um, hi..." She said in almost a whisper.
