Your image here [/img] A HORSE GALLOPS WITH ITS LUNGS PERSEVERES WITH ITS HEART AND WINS WITH ITS CHARACTER Alyssa stared at the jumper ring. She was a hunter, an eq rider, not a jumper. Sure, she had taken a couple lessons with John Berkeley to get a feel for the jumping world, but this was too much. She was sitting aboard on of the school horses, a safe jumper by the name of Chelestino. She was nervous and waiting for her number to be called not so that she could shine and look amazing, but so that she could just get the class over with. She reached down to pat the warmblood's neck.
Her numbered was called and Ali entered the ring and picked up a canter. Her mount opened up his stride to the first jump even though it wasn't that huge. The pair met the first jump in stride and cleared it without so much as a rub. The circled around jumps seven and twelve and and cantered steadily to the second fence and cleared it--a simple vertical. A quick five strides to jump three and another four strides to jump four. There was a slight rub on the fourth jump, but the rail stayed up. They circled jump nine and cantered in quickly to five and six, a three stride line. The jumps were cleared, but the stride length was only two and a half. Around to seven and easily cleared. Chelestino soared over eight a and a stride later hopped eight b. One two, and slight clip over eight c, causing the rail to wobble and threaten to fall. Next was a five stride bending line done in six strides, but the ninth jump was cleared even if sloppily. A fast turn back to ten, another oxer. Chel launched himself at the jump and just cleared it. The horse opened up his stride in the four line and sailed over eleven a and launching himself at the liverpool, bringing a rail down into the water. Ali collected the gelding for the final turn and held him back some towards the last jump, but let him pick the distance. The palomino chose the right distance and jumped it without problem. Ali let the gelding canter several more strides before bringing him back to a walk, petting him lavishly. It wasn't pretty, but they got through the course with only one rail and no refusals. For a first time as a jumper, Alyssa thought it was pretty good.
