[ i m a g i n e y o u c o u l d t e a r t h e w o r l d a p a r t ] lay it all out like a weather chart A trail of hoofprints and bootprints was left behind as Lily walked Syl into the ring. "Ready to go?" She asked her chestnut gelding as she pulled down her stirrups and hopped on. They walked around the ring a few times, streching out everything before moving on. Lily asked for a trot and they moved seamlessly into the gait. Lily trotted around on Syl, doing figure eights and different sized circles before going over a few ground poles. The trees rustled in the distance along with a few caws of ravens when another person walked into the ring, closely followed by a horse.

"Gate!" Phoebe called, using one hand to unlatch the gate, and the other to keep a half hold on Chloe. The mare towered over everything, since she stood at a solid eighteen hands. Phoebe closed the gate behind them and brought the mare over to the mounting block. She slid one Monaco in a stirrup and lightly placed herself on Chloe's back.
Hm, another rider. She was riding a chestnut gelding. A Thoroughbred cross, Phoebe decided. Whatever, it wasn't like she hadn't ridden in a ring with another person before. She slid her leg behind the girth and pushed Chloe on to the rail. The Zangersheide didn't seem very hot-headed, or overly energetic today. That was good, because Phoebe had decided she was riding the mare in the Derby at Westbrrok. A rather spontaneous decision, but she had faith in the mare's abilities.
Chloe actually dipped her head into a frame for a little while, while they were just relaxing on the rail. It was going to be a good day.
Phoebe lightened her seat and nudged with her heels ever so slightly. Just enough to get the mare into a trot. The pair avoided the other rider, staying on the rail most of the time. They did go down the diagonal whenever the other girl was out of the way, floating into a nice extended trot. After pulling her gently into a more collected one, Phoebe cued for a canter on a straightaway, and the mare responded immediately. Her canter was extremely quiet. Like, really quiet, and soft, and slow. Phoebe went around once, flipped leads at X, then around the other way once before coming to a smaller jump down the line closest to some trees.
The pair turned the corner and Phoebe was almost alarmed at how Chloe didn't speed up when she saw the jump. It was 3', large enough for her to at least try and get moving. Maybe just a tad. But no, the mare was consistent with her pace, and for once, Phoebe was not liking it. The blond tapped her outside heel in an effort to get the mare's attention. It worked, and they sped up slightly. Phoebe counted strides and met Chloe halfway over. It was a nice looking jump, and since Chloe wasn't rushing, she hadn't overjumped or decided to throw all her power into it. They landed as calmly as they had come in, flipped their lead and came back down to a walk. Phoebe pat the mare's dappled neck. She looked like a Hunter right there, and if this girl was a die hard jumper, she was probably laughing at her right now.
