HEY THERE! my name is Eliza and i'm 15 years old.

nicknames: Ali
age: 17
birthdate: 5.29
religion: Methodist
sexuality: Straight
grade: 11th
Scholarship or Full Tuition: Full Tuition
playby: Hayley Westenra
hometown: Barrington, Illinois
parents: Mother: Katherine Williams Schueler (44) Father: Martin Schueler (46)
siblings: Margaret Schueler (14)
otherss: Many relatives, Toby (Persian cat), Angelica (goldfish)
brief history: Alyssa was born and raised in Barrington. Her parents were both reasonably well off--her mother being a pharmacist and her father being a dermatologist. Her early childhood was rather normal. She made friends and overall, seemed to get along with many people. Adults called her cute, but what little child isn't cute? As a little girl, Alyssa grew up with a fluffy Persian cat named Toby. He lived for four years after Ali's birth before dying of a tumor and old age. For awhile, she had a pet goldfish, but ownership was quickly transferred from Alyssa to Margaret. She attended the public elementary school, but the summer before first grade, Ali was introduced to horses. Barrington was rather well known for its horses and with wealthy parents, they could afford to pay the lesson fees for their daughter to ride ever other day except Sundays. She spend three years learning and perfecting her abilities on the flat before moving up to low jumps. Ali learned how to balance her riding with school and other conditioning activities such as dance, boating, and biking. Her education was good, but Ali was never smart enough to be at the top of her class. Still, she was always near the top except in social studies. History and geography were never her favored subjects. When she was eleven years old, Alyssa's parents bought their daughter her first horse--a cute hunter pony. She showed him for a few years until a growth spurt hit along with a very rough school year. The pony was sold for a decent price to a young child. Approximately four years after the pony was bought, the girl's parents purchased a horse for their daughter. The two have been partners ever since. Alyssa's High School years were less than exciting. As a freshman, she was struggling to survive in the new world. She had a couple boyfriends but none of them lasted for very long. In tenth grade, her parents discovered the riding school in Kentucky. An old family friend was selling several horses and was willing to sell Alyssa the hunters for a minimal price. She acquired anothershow quality hunter. The price for the whole herd was too much for her parents even at the discount. They spent months debating between whether or not to send their daughter to the riding academy but the decision was made that Alyssa would attend North Creek in Kentucky.
With regards to showing, Alyssa's been competing almost as long as she started riding. At first, Ali started out in the schooling shows, but quickly moved up to more difficult shows farther away from home. She showed frequently with her first pony, often at the expense of missing school. When she owned Lorraine, Alyssa competed less frequently, but placed high more often. She was never nationally renowned for her abilities, but that suited Alyssa just fine.

dislikes: slugs, coffee cake, bright colors, kiwis, water, cheating, animal abuse, surprises, dragons, caves, pugnacious people,
favorite discipline: Hunters
strengths: Hunters, English (language), being polite, sportsmanship, neatness
weaknesses: weaker left eye, prefers tracking right, possessiveness, Social Studies, nut allergies, asthma
secrets: oooh la la. If you don't have any, then delete. This is totally optional.
fears: Hydrophobia, being buried alive
habits: Nail biting, tugging at shirt collars when nervous
overall personality: Alyssa comes from a good family and grew up having friends. She's used to human interaction and enjoys it, though there are moments when she wants nothing more than solitude. She's quite friendly and cheerful in general. However, she doesn't get along with everyone. Alyssa finds people with a god complex to be annoying and likewise, the opposite extreme is true. The hollow people with no spine big her as well. She sees a difference between the meek and humble and the people who can get pushed around like a leaf. As a horse lover, Ali loves talking about them nonstop. She's taken the time to find lots of books about Hunters and practically worship's George Morris' Hunt Seat Equitation. Officially, Ali is a Christian and was confirmed in the Christian faith, but isn't completely sold on everything in the Bible. She has her doubts. It's almost impossible to find Alyssa not wearing any jewelery. The one time being at night. She'll wear anything no matter how small and insignificant. Anything from simple stud earrings to fancy earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and anklets is fine with her. In particular, she enjoys wearing a cameo of a horse head on a gold chain. She dresses nicely and has always been able to afford new clothes. Even though she can afford to own two horses and go to a prestigious academy, Ali is not rolling in dough. She isn't stuck up and snobbish about her wealth either. Christian morals contradict that behavior too much. As a rider, Ali has reasonably good work ethics, but she's prone to forgetting about the time and riding for too long in one sitting. She was trained to use the horse's natural instincts and wild behavior to her advantage and often rides with a stick just in case. To be perfectly honest, Alyssa is very much a normal teenager except for her love of horses and competing. She's competitive in the sense that she'll try her hardest to do well, but she won't trash talk the other competitors or pull illegal pranks. Ali is always thinking about others and staying on her good side isn't that hard. While it's hard to get Alyssa to hate people, betrayal, taking advantage of, and deception are high on the girl's list of things that make her mad. While not something that will get someone kicked off her "good" list, bugging Alyssa while she's reading isn't the best idea. For one, she gets really absorbed and doesn't notice her surrounding at all. Two, she often has a good train of thought and interrupting her in an obnoxious way is derailing the train. Third, Ali generally doesn't disrupt others while they're working and respects the same sort of cortousey.[/size][/ul]
LORRAINE
registered/show name: Lorraine
barn name: Misty
age: 12 [1.05]
gender: Mare
colour: Grey
markings: Dapples
height: 16.2hh
breed: Thoroughbred
sire: Avignon
dam: Daphne's Laurels
discipline(s): Hunter
owned by: Alyssa Schueler (2 years)
brief history and personality: Misty was born in Kentucky and trained as a hunter from the start. Her original owners were patient in teaching her and worked through the mare's faults, steadily correcting bad behavior and rewarding good behavior. She started showing as a pre-green Hunter but was easily distracted by everything going on. She stopped repeatedly, more interested in the flowers and pretty jumps than jumping. The trainers didn't completely blame the mare for the less than average performance, but addressed the problems one at a time. First was getting distracted by everything. They took the mare to as many shows as possible and just let her watch everything until she could relax in all the activity. To simulate some interactions at shows, the trainers invited young kids and parents to come over and pet the horse. At first, Misty wasn't sure what was going on but learned to accept it as part of the routine. Back at home, the barn was playing shelter to a goat that had gotten lost. The goat, unsure of what to make of Misty charged the mare and chased her around the indoor arena. Thunder was also scary for the horse. The mare was also trained to jump over the fences and not stop to stare and sniff. She has a very large, smooth gait. Misty listens to the rider well, but if she thinks she can get away with misbehaving, she will. At ten years, Lorraine was sold to the Schuelers for Alyssa. The two had their differences but have since worked out most of the problems. Lorraine stills likes to refuse jumps with Ali.
dislikes: deep shadows, thunder, goats
fears: thunder, the big scary monster that hides behinds gates
habits: head tossing while being girthed, ducking right
ARTICULATE
registered/show name: Articulate
barn name: Arti
age: 8 [6.19]
gender: Gelding
colour: Bay
markings: Star, snip, socks on the back legs
height: 16.0hh
breed: Dutch Warmblood
sire: Verbatim
dam: I Got Lucky
discipline(s): Hunter, EQ
owned by: Alyssa Schueler (1 year)
brief history and personality: Articulate was born in Holland to a large farm specializing in various types of warmbloods. He was sold as a yearling to a large stable in the United States and started training as a jumper. The stable's methods were less than humane when it came to teaching a horse to jump high. He started training too young and was punished frequently for his struggles to be a jumper. He was sold for the meat price and purchased by another trainer who specialized in Hunters at the age of five. The horse underwent a period of desensitizing to many objects and feelings he had learned to fear. However, one day, Arti found himself grazing at pasture and a tree had knocked down part of the fence. Articulate stepped over the fence and found himself on a highway. Terrified, the gelding wasn't sure what to do and bolted, but the sound and smell of motorized vehicles racing at him was never erased from his memory. In time, the horse was trained to be a show quality hunter and eq horse and sold when he was seven years old to the Schuelers. Alyssa rides her horse frequently, and has been making great progress with him. Except for loud motors, Arti is very safe to ride.
dislikes: loud motors
fears: umbrellas
habits: dumping food into the water bucket, rolling
Alyssa Schueler stared absently out of the car window. Behind her parents' truck was the horse trailer containing both of her horses. Spa music was playing quietly in the background. If it weren't for the excitement of moving to a new state for an education and being with her horses even more, Ali probably would have fallen asleep right then and there. She was amazed at how many horses were in Kentucky. Sure, it was known for it's horses and even had a horse on the state quarter, but the girl had never been expecting to see so many. Having grown up in Barrington, the junior was used to seeing horses a lot. Among the locals, that part of Illinois and souther Wisconsin had earned the name "Horse Country". This was truly the horse state. She could hear her grey mare, Lorraine, banging around in the back and Articulate was probably drowning any scrap of edible hay available. Thankfully, both of the horses trailered reasonably well. This wouldn't be much of a problem.
"Hey, dad? When will we get to North Creek?"
"In another hour, I think. The GPS says 40 more miles and one hour, seventeen minutes. Excited to see your new school, Ali?"
She laughed slightly. "Of course! You both are paying a fortune to send me here, why wouldn't I be excited?"
The girl craned her neck to see the gas tank guage. The needle was moving slowly towards empty. It had been awhile since they last stopped somewhere and Alyssa was getting a little hungry. Still, the spedometer read sixty-five miles per hour and that meant that she would get there fairly quickly if she just waited. Still, the horses probably had to be walked around and given more water. "Dad, when's the next rest stop? I'm getting hungry and horses should be walked around a bit."
"Fifteen more miles. We can pull over then."
Twelve minutes later, Mr. Schueler had parked the truck and trailer at the rest stop and Alyssa and her mother were busy unloading the horses. Across the parking lot, people were watching intently as two big horses were backed out to look around. A little kid tried to race towards the horses only to be stopped by the mother. A few words were exchanged between Ali and her mother and the daughter was left holding the lead ropes of two horses. She walked them around and over towards the grass, eventually stopping and letting the horses graze for a bit. The mother led her daughter towards Ali, asking kindly if the child could pet on the horses. The teen tugged Arti over and hel his head while the little girl petted his nose. The mother and daughter thanked Ali and left. Further away, someone was revving the motor of their motorcycle loudly causing Articulate to start and tense up, clearly distressed. Alyssa held him calmly and tried to distract the horse until the motocyclist had left. A few minutes later, the parents returned to their daughter and loaded the horses back into the trailer with fresh food and water for the final leg of the journey.
